Privacy Policy

Last Updated: March 19, 2026

At Cosearch, we are committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our Chrome Extension, Web Dashboard, and related cloud services.

1Information We Collect

To provide a seamless productivity experience, we collect the following types of information:

  • Account Information: Email address, username, and profile preferences (e.g., chosen Widget character) provided during registration or third-party OAuth login.
  • User-Generated Content: Bookmarks, Todo lists, and content saved to "Pocket" (including text, URLs, and area screenshots).
  • Technical Data: IP address, browser type, and Extension version to ensure service stability and security.
  • Usage Data: We use Posthog to collect anonymized interaction data (e.g., feature usage frequency) to improve our product.

2How We Use Your Data

We process your information for the following purposes:

  • Service Provision: Syncing your data across devices and managing your "Pro" or "Team" membership benefits.
  • AI Features: Providing intelligent bookmark classification, webpage summarization, translation, and AI-driven search results through our backend and configured AI providers.
  • Cloud Storage: Storing your screenshots and snapshots securely in our S3-compatible cloud storage.
  • Communication: Sending essential service updates, security alerts, and subscription-related notifications.

3Data Processing and AI

  • Content Analysis: When you use AI features (e.g., summarization or vector search), specific webpage content is processed by our backend and partner AI models. We do not use your private data to train foundation models without explicit consent.
  • Vector Search: We store semantic representations of saved content in our search infrastructure to support natural-language bookmark search.

4Third-Party Sharing & Payments

We do not sell your personal data. We only share data with trusted partners necessary to provide our services:

  • Payments (Creem): All payments are securely processed by Creem (creem.io), our Merchant of Record. When you subscribe, your payment details are handled directly by Creem. We receive only transaction status updates (via Webhooks) to unlock your Pro features.
  • AI Infrastructure: Content for AI tasks is sent to providers like Google (Gemini) or OpenAI via secure, encrypted channels.
  • Infrastructure: We use industry-standard cloud providers (AWS/S3 compatible) for data hosting and Sentry for error tracking.

5Browser Extension Permissions

Our Chrome Extension requires specific permissions to function:

  • Tabs, Bookmarks, and History: To read your open tabs, bookmark tree, and browsing history so features like Tabs, bookmark sync/search, and history search can work.
  • Storage: To save local preferences, cached data, and synced settings.
  • Cookies, Notifications, Clipboard, and Alarms: To keep your sign-in state, show reminders and status notifications, support clipboard-based actions, and run scheduled reminder tasks.
  • Page Access and On-Page UI: We inject the floating widget and selection menu on supported pages, and you can turn those features off or blacklist specific sites in settings.

6Data Retention and Deletion

  • Soft Delete: When you delete an item, it is marked as deleted in our system for a grace period to allow recovery, after which it is permanently purged.
  • Account Closure: You may request full account deletion at any time. Upon request, all personal data associated with your account will be permanently removed from our active databases.

7Security

We use HttpOnly and Secure cookie attributes to mitigate XSS and CSRF risks. All cloud communications are encrypted via HTTPS.
